The exhibition project of two young artists, Lenka L. Lukačovičová (1987) and Michal Huba (1990) shows the latest series of their analogue photographs. Antropos / Topos explores the relationship between the natural and the human as two dissimilar and at the same time coexisting quantities. The two complementary positions (landscape, territorial – topos and human – anthropos) are not mutually exclusive, but rather intersect, intertwine, merge and mirror. The works of both artists oscillate on the border of visual topography, especially the landscape or urban space, and intricately constructed poetic composition. In their research into the photographic medium, they treat it both similarly and differently, providing a special perspective on the theme.

Historical, archaeological, genetic, geological, geographical or biological layers appear in Michal Huba’s visual composition fragmented by the metaphorical expression in relation to photography. The artist’s depictions of landscape allow him to discover other levels in the context of philosophy. He deliberately chooses an area of the territory (topos) with certain characteristic features, in which we find connotations of the border region, forest, nomadism, steppes, contact with highlands and lowlands, tectonics and faults, wind, water, sand, rock, cultural layers, roads and barriers…

The photographic images of Lenka L. Lukačovičová reflect the space where concrete situations take place. She focuses on the changes, slight differences or nuances in the urban environment, transforming them through various sequences into analogue photographs and projections. She repeatedly returns to the places in her neighbourhood. Sometimes, she formally records them, but other times she intervenes in the form of land art or seeks connotations characteristic of our cultural and social situation.
